What is a “Dive & Dine?”

As our name suggests, Pallin’ Around Charters is all about having a relaxed day on the water with good friends, food, and scenery. Our 36′ restored 1969 Grand Banks mahogany trawler is a comfortable space for divers and their non-diving friends/family. Depending on the goals for your group, we will leave the marina in the morning or afternoon for a few hours on/below the water with a beautiful meal. Typically, we leave from Pleasant Harbor Marina in Brinnon, Washington on the Hood Canal. Read more about our favorite dive site Pinnacle here.

What if we have non-divers in our group?

We welcome non-divers! Our boat Pallin’ Around is a comfortable place for folks to launch a kayak from or use our binoculars to spot wildlife on the water. Former guests have gone for a dip from our swim deck (brave souls!), kicked back to read a book while the boat gently rocks, or discussed music theory with Captain Kelley. We have a great sitting area on the flybridge and a warm, dry cabin for those misty autumn days. Read more about accommodations for non-divers here.

What if I am a less experienced diver or it’s been a while since I’ve been in the water? Do you allow rebreathers or specialized photography equipment?

Please communicate special scuba needs with us when you’re making your reservation. We are always excited to help you plan a custom trip! Often, we plan two dives on one site. Besides allowing for a more relaxed schedule, having a slower-paced trip gives us more time to explore sites in-depth.

What about the dine part of the “Dive & Dine”?

As a former professional chef, Katherine LOVES presenting unique dishes for our dive clients. Meal, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and a dive guide are included in the cost of the trip. We are able to accommodate most dietary restrictions- please alert us in your reservations. You are welcome to bring your own alcoholic beverages to enjoy on the boat once you have completed all diving for the day.

What will I see?

One of the great joys of diving the Hood Canal is that you never know what you will see! However, our divers are most excited to see: wolf eels, red octopus, giant pacific octopus, all kinds of crabs, jellyfish, nudibranchs, various starfish and rockfish. Can I get rental gear and air fills?

Absolutely! We partner with Jade Scuba to offer a wide variety of custom scuba instruction, gear rentals/purchase options, and air fills in Brinnon and Port Orchard. Ask us for more info.

Can we extend this trip into a whole weekend?

Welcome to the Wild Side of the Hood Canal! Chat with us about staying at our highly-rated AirBnB and booking an all-inclusive weekend.

What safety measures are present in your operation?

We take safety precautions seriously and welcome any feedback to improve our operations! We always carry appropriate diver safety gear like an oxygen kit, first aid kit, warming devices, fresh water, and back-up supplies. Our staff performs at least annual safety trainings. We strive to be as complete as possible in our dive briefings, planning, guiding, and buddy pairs. While there will always be an inherent risk to the sport of diving, taking proper precautions can lower these risks. Dive with safety in mind and have fun!
