Of the commercial harbors on the San Juan Islands, Deer Harbor Marina is our favorite.
It’s large enough to have fuel, a nearby restaurant, laundry + showers, and access to the ferry system. At the same time, it’s also small enough to have a beautiful harbor, easy access, fun artwork, and a local touch.

Amenities at Deer Harbor Marina
Simply stroll across the street from the marina for one of the best amenities: Island Pie Pizza (no matter the season, it’s best to call ahead 360-376-2505).
After several nights of staying “on the hook” without power, water, trash, laundry, showers, etc, we were very happy to spend the evening in a small town!
Paddling at Deer Harbor Marina
Following an early dinner, we paddled the lagoon behind the marina. It was an easy, beautiful paddle among residential properties, farmland, and back out to rocky cliffs.
